This small scale trellis pattern embodies simplicity and sophistication. Traditionally rotary printed on a pure fine cotton, the stamped effect floral motifs are delicately framed by a trellis form. In five colourways created to stand alone as well as perfectly complementing the larger scale prints in the English Heritage range - coordinating wallpaper also available

Thought to be dated between 1760 and 1820 this wallpaper fragment was found at No.80 St John Street - a very ancient and important route from the City of London towards Islington and to the North of England. The area in Clerkenwell at the time was not a particularly fashionable place to live and tended to be inhabited by tradesmen with their work often carried out in the ground floor or back yard of the house. No.80 St John Street is likely to have been built in the 1750's and was in continuous occupation until 1821 by two distillers who both lived and worked on the premises.
